O'Reilly group may raise bid for APN.

Oct 29, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Shares in Australasian media group APN News & Media closed at $A6.18 on 27 October 2006. This is $A0.16 above the takeover offer by Irish group Independent News & Media (INM), which values APN at $A3.8bn. INM and private-equity backers want to move APN into a new business, which they would manage but use to raise $A600m for expansion into Europe, South Africa and India. APN owns the Australian Radio Network and newspapers across Australia and New Zealand, many in regional areas.
