Oct 15, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian airline, Qantas, will trial inflight mobile telephone services in early 2007. The GSM service will make it possible to make and receive telephone calls and text messages during flights. However, there are concerns that the "jammer", required by the system, could interfere with aircraft communications systems. Telecommunications analysts, Paul Budde, says social issues of mobile telephone use on aircraft are of greater importance.
