Oct 11, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Google is expected to use its YouTube purchase to take a greater share of Australian online video advertising. The internet search-engine giant is forecast to reorganise the video content of YouTube to include its own targeted advertising system. Tempest Media currently handles the advertising aimed at YouTube's 1.4 million Australian users, but it is not yet known how that arrangement will be affected. Google paid $A2.2bn for YouTube, a service which places video content from users around the world on the web. Internet video advertising in the US alone is forecast to reach $A640m in 2007.
