Rent row means dictionary shifts.

Australasian Business Intelligence, October, 2006

Byline: Brendan O'Keefe

Oct 12, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The home of Australia's first dictionary will move from Macquarie University (MU) to the University of Sydney. This follows a dispute between MU and the company behind the Macquarie Dictionary, Macquarie Library (ML), which is owned by publisher Pan MacMillan. The university recently discovered that ML had been using an office rent-free for most of the past 25 years. It offered alternative accommodation but ML said it was not acceptable. The Macquarie Dictionary and thesaurus have been praised as signs of Australia's emerging national identity. The move will take effect on 17 October 2006.
