Organs on demand, no embryo.

Australasian Business Intelligence, October, 2006

Oct 10, 2006 (New Scientist - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Japanese researchers have discovered a method of producing stem cells that overcomes ethical concerns. The researchers from Kyoto University used mouse skin cells to produce what are effectively embryonic stem cells. They exposed the cells to four messenger chemicals that are found in embryonic but not adult cells. The new technology could produce replacement tissues that would overcome the shortages of donated organs, and the tissues would be genetically identical to the recipient.
