Australasian Business Intelligence, October, 2006
Byline: Brendan O'Keefe
Oct 03, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Institute of Physics is operating lecture series that were originally designed to promote involvement by women in science. The speaker at the 2006 events, Deb Kane of Macquarie University, says she is keen to change the public perception that studying physics is not a lucrative career move. In fact, she notes, engineering and physics graduates command some of the highest starting salaries. Kane has been given a research grant of $A50,000 to look into the application of lasers in the restoration and cleaning of ancient artworks.
