ABC found guilty of breaching maternity leave provisions.
Australasian Business Intelligence, November, 2006
Nov 13, 2006 (Discrimination Alert - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Tita Ilian, a Perth-based ABC producer, took two years and four months of maternity leave to have two children. Federal Magistrate Murray McInnis, of the Federal Magistrates Service, found that Ilian experienced "less favourable treatment" after returning from leave. McInnis attributed the treatment to the woman's pregnancy and maternity leave. Ilian reported that she was not provided with any workstation, job title or job description after returning from leave. A fellow worker had assumed her previous position. Decisions on damages and costs are yet to be given.
