Downer sets recovery in train.

Nov 14, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian engineering group, Downer EDI, is negotiating some big projects. On 14 November 2006, Downer announced that it is discussing deals to build passenger rail cars in Western Australia and Queensland, with a total value of around $A410 million. Earlier, Downer was involved in a consortium, Reliance Rail, which won a $A4 billion contract to build and maintain a fleet of passenger rail trains in New South Wales. Downer has turned the corner after a very lacklustre 2005-06 financial year. Its mining arm, Roche Mining, has negotiated an alliance with Xstrata Coal to develop two new coal processing plants.
