Nov 09, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- There are many business leaders surprised by the international success of Swedish companies. The profitability of Swedish corporations - such as Absolut, AstraZeneca, Electrolux, Ericsson, IKEA, SAAB, Scania and Volvo - is typically considered at odds with its generous employee conditions, such as mandatory parental leave and other lengthened leave entitlements. In Sweden research has confirmed its businesses tend to prefer a "feminised" model, which is co-operative or consensual, rather than competitive. This system of group problem solving and search for team-based consensus avoids conflict and ensures that decisions are quickly implemented.
