Nov 01, 2006 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Lexicographers at Macquarie University in Sydney have agreed to end their official role with "The Macquarie Dictionary". The academic staff, who have assisted the publication for more than 25 years, will surrender the $A13,000 they each receive annually in royalties. While the copyright to the dictionary was owned by the university, the private company Macquarie Library held the publication rights. Macquarie's new vice-chancellor, Steven Schwartz, wanted Macquarie Library to move to offices on Lane Cove Road and start paying rent, but the company instead decided to relocate to the University of Sydney.
