Nov 01, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Inspector-General of Taxation, David Vos, has been very active, looking at tax administration. The Australian Treasury has denied that a review of the investigative powers given to Vos is an attempt to weaken his investigations. A Treasury official told an Australian Senate committee that Vos has statutory powers which are a matter for the Parliament. Vos has increased his criticisms of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and has begun a review of how the ATO audits the goods and services tax.
