Court finds in ABTA's favour over packaging.

Australasian Business Intelligence, November, 2006

Nov 01, 2006 (Travel Weekly - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has won a major victory over the UK aviation regulator. The Court of Appeal has ruled against the Civil Aviation Authority's "Guidance Note 26", which forced travel agents to lodge financial bonds in case they collapsed. ABTA said the guidance note had disadvantaged many UK travel agents, as airlines and non-package tour operators did not face the same compliance costs. ABTA has suggested an alternative scheme, which it considers fairer.
