Australasian Business Intelligence, December, 2006

Byline: Terry Hayes

Dec 20, 2006 (Weekly Tax Bulletin - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has announced it will no longer be issuing goods and services tax (GST) Advices. Information that was previously contained in GST Advices is now covered in other ATO documents, like tax determinations and public rulings. The NTLG GST Sub-committee, from which GST Advices originally sprang, is now more focused on compliance and litigation issues in relation to the GST. In announcing the demise of GST Advices, the ATO stressed they will remain relevant until they are superseded.
