New networks are being developed to help IT businesses form strategic alliances and partnerships, win tenders, market products and services, find skilled staff and negotiate better contracts. CollabIT was developed by the Australian Information Industry Association. Its first forum was focused on RFID technology, and its latest deals with Microsoft's .net software platform. Australia's IT and telecommunications sector is worth $A36bn annually.
