Australasian Business Intelligence, December, 2006

Dec 11, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Increasing internet domain name fraud and slow deregistrations has increased calls for third-party monitoring. According to the Australian Computer Emergency Response Team (AusCERT), registrars and resellers of domain names need to be more accountable in times of phishing and other internet fraud. This call was made in late 2006 in response to the Australian Government's review into the .au registration processes and risks. AusCERT fears that a relaxation of domain eligibility will certainly increase the registration and operation of fraudulent domains.
