Drought puts heat on plantations.

Australasian Business Intelligence, December, 2006

Byline: Ben Wilmot

Dec 10, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- In December 2006, IndustryEdge has issued its analysis of Australia's plantation industry. The group anticipates that severe drought will have a marked impact on plantations and claims the outlook for some plantation species in the temperate regions of South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia is uncertain. Cool temperate species such as blue gums are expected to survive prolonged periods of drought in Tasmania. IndustryEdge has recommended that the Australian Taxation Office exhibit caution in making any changes to the taxes on forestry schemes.
