RMIT to bank on institutes.

Dec 12, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- In March 2007, RMIT University will launch four research institutes at a cost of $A8 million. The institutes will fall under the topics of Global Cities, Design, Medical Innovations and Platform Technology. RMIT academics will support these institutes in their engagement with the wider community and business. For instance, the Global Cities Institute will draw from engineering, science and the social sciences academics, and sometimes students, who will work on key issues, such as sustainability. There is also the potential to establish relationships with overseas academic institutions or government departments to undertake research.
