ATO to reframe risk and relationship management with large business.
Australasian Business Intelligence, December, 2006
Byline: Neil Wilson
Dec 11, 2006 (International Tax Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) released a booklet called "Large business and tax compliance" on 30 August 2006. Writing in the booklet, Michael D'Ascenzo, the Tax Commissioner, says he does not want large businesses to fear giving feedback to the ATO, nor will the ATO see a difference in opinion as necessarily being a sign that a business is not willing to co-operate with it. The booklet makes it clear that non-disclosure of information is not an option for large businesses, while it also makes a commitment to complete large business audits within two years of commencing them wherever possible.
