Fees bonanza if the mega-deal succeeds.

Dec 05, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Lawyers, advisers and financiers are expected to earn massive fees if a proposed takeover bid for Qantas succeeds. Macquarie Bank could gain about $A200m in fees from advising the consortium that is seeking to acquire the national carrier, while the debt syndicate that is funding the deal is also likely to earn about $A200m in fees. Macquarie heads the private equity consortium, which also includes Texas Pacific Group and Onex. Qantas shares eased $A0.03 on 5 December 2006, closing at $A5.14.
