Dec 07, 2006 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Members of a consortium led by Macquarie Bank are still negotiating the final pricing of a bid for Australia's Qantas Airways. It is expected an offer of between $A5.50 and $A6 a share will be made, although some consortium members are concerned about paying too much for the carrier. Private equity partners in the consortium include Texas Pacific Group, Onex, Allco Finance and Pacific Equity. It is understood the consortium has major global expansion plans for the airline, shares in which rose $A0.11 to $A5.20 on 7 December 2006.
