New US transfer pricing services regs drop simplified cost-based method.

Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2007

Byline: Audrey Nutt

Jan 23, 2007 (Tax Notes International - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The US Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) proposed new transfer pricing services rules in August 2006. The regulations are in temporary and proposed form so that taxpayers can lodge comments before they take effect at the start of calendar 2007. The IRS has reacted to criticisms by withdrawing the simplified cost-based method in favour of the simplified cost method. The service cost method can be used for only two categories of services. Shared services arrangement provisions have unexpectedly been included in the temporary and proposed regulations.
