Global backlash against America.

Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2007

Byline: Michael Gordon

Jan 22, 2007 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- A poll of 26,000 people in 25 countries has found increasing anger over America's role in world affairs. Australians were especially negative, with 60 per cent disapproving of US foreign policies compared with an average 52 per cent. Wars in Iraq and Lebanon, along with the treatment of prisoners including Australian David Hicks, fuelled the hostility. Around two-thirds of all respondents said the US involvement in the Middle East created more conflicts than it solved. The survey was commissioned by the BBC and "The Age" newspaper, which is a Fairfax Media publication.
