Bottlenecks add steam to coal price.

Jan 17, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Analysts believe the price of thermal coal, used in power stations, will continue its recent rise. Spot prices increased from about $US41 a tonne in November 2006 to $US51 in January 2007. Goldman Sachs JBWere (GSJBW) predicts the price will be $US55 a tonne by April 2007. Strong demand from Asia, port delays in Australia and bad weather in Indonesia were cited as factors behind the increase. Australian-listed companies expected to benefit include Centennial Coal, Felix Resources and New Hope, controlled by Washington H Soul Pattinson.
