Computer courses struggle to survive.

Jan 14, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Some Australian universities may drop IT courses altogether in the face of weak demand. Others, such as Victoria University, will lower entry scores for computer courses in 2007 to make up the numbers. A spokesperson for the University of Technology, Sydney, said it would maintain entry scores but expected to offer few places. He noted demand for IT remained weak throughout Australia, with a few exceptions. Meanwhile the Victorian Government will launch an inquiry into why a third of students who qualified at their Year 12 exams were denied Higher Education Contribution Scheme-funded tertiary education places in 2007.
