Sony promises portable Blu-rays.
Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2007
Jan 11, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced plans to update its Blu-ray DVD system to help it gain wider acceptance. The change will enable Blu-ray films to be copied to laptop computers and other devices as portable files. It comes amid criticism about restrictions placed on customers of digital media, limiting how they can use video and audio they have already paid for. Blu-ray disks are in a high-quality format that can hold five times the information of regular DVDs. Sony's Playstation 3, released in the US in November 2006 and due for release in Australia in March 2007, contains a Blu-ray player.
