Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2007

Byline: Harriet Alexander

Jan 11, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The New South Wales Government will not change the HSC system to require minimum academic standards. At present, students who complete Years 11 and 12 receive the HSC certificate, even if their results are poor. George Cooney of Macquarie University, has written a report for the Government in which he recommends changing the system to ensure that students must achieve a minimum standard in order to obtain the certificate.
