Jan 30, 2007 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Microsoft's new operating system, Windows Vista, has been created with cutting-edge multimedia software in order to compete with Apple iTunes. Vista, launched in Australia on 30 January 2007, features an agreement between Microsoft and Sanity Music, which allows access to more than one million songs online. Downloadable movies and TV episodes will also be available via an alliance between Microsoft and Telstra BigPond. Sanity CEO Greg Milne claims that one of the advantages of the new system is that it allows music to be played on various MP3 players, unlike Apple downloads that can be used only in conjunction with an iPod.
