Mitre 10, Harvey Norman make ASSes of themselves.

Feb 19, 2007 (Inside Retailing - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Consumers' Institute of New Zealand claims big retailers Harvey Norman and Mitre 10 have misled consumers. The two were among "winners" at a spoof award ceremony held recently. Mitre 10 won the Fine Print Complete Ass Award for its claim that it will beat a rival's price by 10 per cent. The fine print says the discount only applies to the rival's full purchase price, not sales. Harvey Norman won the Pet Rock Award for promoting and selling extended warranties that institute judges claimed offered no more protection than that under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
