Unwired has cap in hand again.
Australasian Business Intelligence, February, 2007
Byline: Emma Connors
Feb 19, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- In 2005, Unwired set a target of 200,000 Australian subscribers before mid-2007. Delays in the WiMAX technology have let its rival, Telstra, achieve the target instead. At the end of December 2006, Unwired had only 60,000 subscribers. The setbacks with the very promising WiMAX technology forced Unwired to again change its funding arrangements with its major backers, Intel and Mitsui. A major investor in 2005 decided to back out of a $A75 million funding arrangement citing "adverse market conditions". Unwired is now operating on a WiMAX rollout timetable for sometime in mid-2008.
