Feb 21, 2007 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Macquarie Office Trust is interested in capitalising on the break-up of the Equity Office Properties Trust (EOPT). EOPT was purchased by Blackstone for $US39 billion in early February 2007. Blackstone has since taken steps to sell the US trust's assets. Macquarie Office is reportedly preparing to invest $US2.88 billion in Californian property currently held by EPOT. The group's US partner, Maguire Properties, will purchase 24 office buildings in the western US state from Blackstone. On 21 February 2007, Macquarie Office reported a $A455.6 million profit for the half-year to 31 December 2006.
