Feb 21, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian regional pay-TV provider, Austar, has reported a rise in EBIT to $A141.9 million for 2006. Net profit rose strongly to $A210.2 million, a result distorted by a large tax credit. Shares in Austar lifted by $A0.11 to close at $A1.33 on 21 February 2007. ABN Amro Asset Management says Austar has a "good chance" of beating its 2006 performance in calendar 2007. Austar is 80 owned by US-based Liberty Media.
