US debates easing of 'regulatory friction'.

Mar 06, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Corporate regulators in the US may exempt some overseas companies from the US regulatory burden. The chairman of the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), Christopher Cox, has discussed this idea. He has begun talks with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) over this. Australian companies may be able to seek exemptions from US securities laws in order to cut transaction costs and increase opportunities for investment in the US. Cox wants to eliminate "regulatory friction" in the capital markets.
