CEOs concerned about workplace wellness.
Australasian Business Intelligence, March, 2007
Mar 12, 2007 (Human Resources - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The PricewaterhouseCoopers Health Research Institute compiled a report with the World Economic Forum. It is argued in the paper that the increasingly sedentary nature of work is making employees worldwide sicker, less productive and more overweight. The authors argue that companies and staff face an increasing threat from chronic disease. They urge employers to make wellness a focus of their business strategy and contend that multinationals are well-placed to counteract chronic illness. There is expected to be a 17 per cent rise in deaths from chronic diseases worldwide between 2005 and 2015.
