The University will set up a property trust to own commercial developments it will build on land that it owns. The land will be developed in conjunction with the private sector. The University will take an equity stake in the developments. Rents paid to the property trust by the tenants will flow back to the University as a dividend. The plan is to have the trust owning assets worth up to $A1 billion by 2017. The revenue will allow the University to focus on excellence in learning and teaching.
