Mar 07, 2007 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Major economists agree that recent economic data in New South Wales is very positive. The December 2006 quarter figures released on 7 March 2007 showed an above-average level of spending growth at 1.4. Politicians have been cautious in claiming an economic turnaround. Premier Morris Iemma said the figures were encouraging, the Treasurer Michael Costa said interest rates were hampering better growth rates and the Opposition Leader said that the figures did not reflect the true state of the economy.
