Mar 07, 2007 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The issue of music piracy in China will head to the courts again. Big industry names including EMI, Sony BMG, Warner and Universal are joining a battle against Yahoo China being led by the International Federation for the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The IFPI is suing for $A910,000 in damages, claiming that Yahoo China allows users to access members' music without approval. However, a similar case against Chinese internet search engine Baidu.com in 2006 failed. This case will be heard in the same Beijing court. Search companies like Yahoo argue that they cannot be responsible for content on third-party websites.
