Mar 05, 2007 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- ABN Amro Australia has been enlisted by three of the four companies that collectively control Melbourne Airport to negotiate a buyout of BAA. Deutsche Asset Management, Hastings Funds Management and AMP Capital Investors have asked ABN Amro to negotiate the acquisition of the British airport operator's 19.8 holding in Australian Pacific Airports, the operator of Melbourne Airport. BAA's stake has been on the market since October 2006, and could collect BAA parent Grupo Ferrovial up to $A400m. Deutsche, Hastings and AMP have pre-emptive rights over the stake.
