Mar 14, 2007 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Chris Howe is setting up new facilities in Australia on behalf of BBC offshoot Red Bee, a TV production and broadcasting services group. It was acquired in 2005 by investment bank Macquarie Bank and is already providing captioning to free-to-air network Seven in Australia. It has also struck a deal with SBS, and insiders expect the Nine Network to follow suit and outsource some of its work to Red Bee. The new studios are at the ABC's former site in Gore Hill, Sydney. Red Bee has 1,400 staff in the UK and recorded a 2006 calendar profit rise of 12.3 to Stg62.1m ($A153m).
