A year's tax grace for MIS.

Australasian Business Intelligence, March, 2007

Byline: David McKenzie

Mar 28, 2007 (The Weekly Times - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Upfront tax concessions on non-forestry managed investment schemes (MIS) will not be removed until 1 July 2008. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) had previously planned to remove the concessions on 1 July 2007. The one-year extension will disappoint the MIS sector, which had lobbied for three years. The Tax Commissioner, Michael D'Ascenzo, says the tax break could still be removed before 1 July 2008 if the ATO's views are upheld in test case.
