Mar 28, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- It remains highly likely that mining corporations will remain profitable in 2007, but not to the same extent as 2006. Macquarie Bank believes that copper will be the strongest commodity in 2007, despite its fall between November 2006 and March 2006, which is good news for diversified miners such as Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton. Nickel has been a stand-out of base metals, but single-producers such as Jubilee Mines, Independence Group, Minara, Mincor and Sally Malay are considered likely to suffer corrections in 2007. Meanwhile, labour supply issues remain problematic for many projects globally.
