[466] Transfer from CSS to PSS: unsuccessful attempt to revoke election.
Australasian Business Intelligence, March, 2007
Byline: Stuart Jones
Mar 27, 2007 (Weekly Tax Bulletin - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Mr Sharma, an Australian Government public servant, had sought to transfer from one superannuation fund to another in 2001. However, two days after he had given his election form to the Australian Taxation Office, he discovered his decision to switch from the Commonwealth Superannuation Scheme to the Public Sector Superannuation Scheme had been based on incorrect modelling. He tried to revoke his election to transfer to the new fund, but the Commissioner of Superannuation refused his request, a ruling that has been recently upheld by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
