Renewed hope for renewables, but not business migrants.

Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2007

Byline: Mathew Murphy

Apr 01, 2007 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- On 2 April 2007, Mark Diesendorf of the University of New South Wales will release a report entitled "The Base Load Fallacy". The report claims that renewable energy sources could supply up to 50 per cent of Australia's electricity by 2040. It projects that after 2050, the vast majority of Australia's electricity could be derived from renewable sources. The report also recommends reviewing Australia's immigration policy as a means of controlling the nation's greenhouse gas emissions. Diesendorf hopes the report will dispel the perception that renewables are incapable of meeting Australia's base-load electricity needs.
