Apr 11, 2007 (The Weekly Times - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Wheat Export Authority (WEA) released its "2006 Growers Report" in the week ending 6 April 2007, in which it criticised AWB. The WEA's criticism was specifically levelled at the prices that AWB was able to achieve for the 2005-06 national pool, with the WEA claiming they were well below Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat futures. The WEA contends that the 2005-06 pool prices should have risen by as much as $A14 per tonne as a result of stronger global wheat prices. In its report, the WEA also called for more powers in terms of its ability to audit the single wheat desk.
