Apr 09, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group (MCIG) is believed to be close to buying Great Britain's secure digital radio network, O2 Airwave. Current owner Telefonica, of Spain, is selling O2 for up to Stg2bn. In early April 2007 MCIG paid Stg2.5bn for National Grid Wireless, complementing its earlier Arqiva acquisition and further expanding its control of UK broadcast towers.
