Children's segment grows with parent's concerns over childhood obesity.

Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2007

Apr 05, 2007 (Retail World - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Aztec estimates the Australian children's yoghurt grocery category to be worth $A69 million. The category has a growth rate of 16.5 per cent. Nestle commands 46.6 per cent of the market, ahead of National Foods with 24.8 per cent. Aztec data indicate that Dairy Farmers has achieved strong growth, of 88.3 per cent, to obtain its 13.1 per cent market share. Wayne Evans, dairy case manager at Beaumaris IGA, says licensing on children's yoghurts has helped the category to grow, as children are attracted to the well-known characters on the packs.
