Apr 17, 2007 (The West Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Western Australian (WA) police have laid charges against two Aboriginal men over allegations they sexually abused girls as young as 12. It has been revealed that the older of the two accused also worked as a truant officer, occasional language teacher and counsellor at the local school, and was employed by the WA Department of Education. The Department for Community Development is investigating, while the alleged victims have been removed from the remote community. Henry Councillor, CEO of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service, argues more needs to be done to curb widespread child sexual abuse.
