Case sheds further light on poaching clients.

Apr 17, 2007 (Independent Financial Adviser - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Both parties in the case of "AMP Services Ltd v Manning" are to appeal a Federal Court decision. The case concerned Angela Manning, a financial planner with Arrive Wealth Management, owned by AMP, who announced in January 2004 she was leaving to join Goldman Sachs JB Were. Manning claimed her understanding was that her resignation would take immediate effect, while Arrive claimed that she remained an employee for a further four weeks. The Court, which fined Manning a relatively small amount, found she had breached her duty to Arrive as a result of contacting clients after her resignation.
