AWA ban is Rudd's IR weakness: big business.

Apr 19, 2007 (The West Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Employer associations and large businesses in Western Australia (WA) have commented on the Federal Opposition workplace plans. Australian Labor Party leader Kevin Rudd was criticised for his promise to scrap Australian Workplace Agreements, with the mining sector in particular not wanting to lose the flexibility these individual contracts offer. This is also the argument of Richard Goyder, CEO of industrial conglomerate Wesfarmers. Resources group Rio Tinto and the WA Chamber of Minerals & Energy back some aspects of the industrial relations policy, such as secret strike ballots and a uniform system across the nation.
