ABC questions reach of favoured digital radio option.

Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2007

Byline: Joshua Gliddon

Apr 19, 2007 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is advising that the proposed digital radio format will not broadcast as far as alternatives. In its April 2007 submission, the DAB digital radio format is said to not broadcast as far as the DRM format so when digital radio is compulsorily introduced in 2009, ABC Radio's rural listeners will miss out. Digital radio allows for the transmission of data with an audio signal. The ABC would like DRM format radio to be broadcast as well and that radio manufacturers produce dual-format receivers.
