Employee owners more engaged in work.
Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2007
Apr 30, 2007 (Ethical Investor - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Darryl Hull and Vivienne Read, of the University of New South Wales, have conducted a study of workplaces and their characteristics. Hull and Read have identified the drivers for excellence, of which the most important is the emotional attachment to an organisation. Employee-share ownership plans (ESOP) are very effective in stimulating the attachment to one's workplace. More Australian companies should consider offering such ESOPs to their employees. Currently, only six per cent of employees participate in ESOPs in Australia, compared with 35 per cent in the US.
